The client, who grew up in Hawaii in the 1940s and 1950s, wanted to experience the unspoiled paradise of her youth -- beyond tourist hotels, golf courses and Polynesian reviews. Scarlet Feather planned a trip to the less populated islands of Kauai, Molokai and Lanai, integrating small scale accomodations and offbeat activities.

  • Watch humpback whales while riding the ferry from Molokai to Manale Harbor, Lanai
  • Relax at Dreams Come B&B in Lanai City, the largest town on the island, home to just 3,000 residents
  • Walk from the inn to the town square to enjoy a leisurely lunch and quaint shops
  • Explore the island's numerous empty beaches and coves by off road vehicle
